Tuesday Treasury 4.16.13

Welcome to this week’s featured treasury! This week, I’m showcasing my favorite of all the typographical wonders- the ampersand. Also known as “the and sign,” or “how the heck do I draw that?,” the ampersand is a thing of beauty in almost every font, and also the name of my lovely kitten. & here we go:

I love all of the different fonts used in these. There are so many beautiful ampersands, in so many amazing fonts. Everything from basic Times New Roman to much more fancy and hand drawn ones are showcased here, really giving a view of how something as simple as the symbol for AND can be so lovely.

I also am thrilled with the mediums: printed on clothes, etched into class, made into jewelry- you name it, it’s here. There are TONS more on etsy, as well, which you should totally check out, if you love ampersands as much as I do.

As always, don’t forget to ‘like’ the items that you like, so that the creators know that their work is appreciated!

  1. I feel that recently typography-love has become more common? Or is it just me starting to notice it everywhere now that I'm starting to get into it too?

    1. I think this is a case of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon (one of my favorite psychological things!). Basically, the BMP is when you hear about something or notice something once, and then suddenly you start to see it everywhere or way more frequently than you'd expect. BUT I also think good typography is on the rise as well!
