Upcycling a Cereal Box into a Magazine Holder

For day two of Blogruary, I have a craft project! Recently, Karen Kavett made a video about how she reorganized her craft supplies and made magazine holders from corrugated cardboard, and she made a comment about how she had originally used cereal boxes, but they weren’t pretty or sturdy.

Well, she ended up covering the cardboard with duct tape anyway, and I thought that adding the duct tape to the cereal boxes would add enough stability for me, so I went ahead and gave it a shot.

Blogruary 2013 Introduction

Happy February, everyone! As I am turning 24 at the end of this month, I decided to celebrate all month long, and I’m doing it with you guys. I plan to blog/vlog/SOMETHING every day of February 2013. I will blog every day, unless I post a vlog, in which case I will also post it here, with some more information, and other pictures/details. I’m calling this Blogruary 2013, in the hope I may continue this tradition of blogging my birth month every year.

So what will you see this month? Besides my regularly crafty goodness & book reviews, I also have some special birthday type things planned, as well as some horoscopy things, and maybe some flashbacks to my childhood/teenage years.

Influenster Palmolive Box Update

January 2013 Favorites

Man, I can not believe that it is already time for me to do this post. I really feel like doing these posts may be making the time go faster than it already has been.

I don’t have much in the way of beauty this month- actually pretty much all of my favorites are sort of “Random” favorites this month. But regardless, without further ado, here are my January Favorites.

Lucky Charms Cupcakes [Recipe & Pictures]

The other day, while grocery shopping, I bought some Lucky Charms on a whim. I guess I forgot that I never can eat super sugary cereal in the morning, or something, so it sat in my cabinet for about a week (minus the bit Chloe ate. Seventeen year olds.) until today when we decided we wanted to make cupcakes.
 
After searching for recipes, all I could find was “make a boxed cupcake mix, top with Lucky Charms.” Um, no. I want cereal in my batter. Also, I want to MAKE CUPCAKES, not stir and bake.

What I thought: 
I adored these books. In fact, I finished Divergent and immediately began Insurgent, which I read in about three hours. The pacing is very good; no parts of these books felt like they were dragging on, or were too rushed, although it was fast paced at times. I wasn’t exactly surprised by the relationship that arose in the books, but oh my god I was so happy to squeak by without a damn love triangle. (Please let there not be a love triangle in the third one.) 

I was quite a bit surprised by some twists with Tris’ family, although I’m trying to avoid spoilers here. Needless to say, I wasn’t expecting a couple revelations. I’m pretty sure my favorite part about this series, though, was that I truly felt like the different factions could exist? Like, I have a hard time imagining some dystopias actually coming to fruition, but for some reason I buy into this one. I can see the brave, the peaceful, the intelligent, etc., seeking each other out and forming their own groups apart from the others. I’m not sure why that is, but I can almost imagine it. 

Overall, I was a huge fan of both books, and I am eagerly awaiting the final installment. 

Read this if: you are a fan of dystopian novels, if you prefer when there isn’t a love triangle in your dystopia, if you are distrusting of people who claim to have a unifying dominant trait. 

Out of 5: I give both books a solid 4.5/5
