March 2013 Playlist

Hey guys! I’m back with another playlist for you!

I’ll admit, this is a weird one for me. Somehow I spent this whole month listening to a weird mix of indie folk music, and uber pop music. I know. It’s been a weird month.

march 13
Tracks 1-3: Amanda Palmer. If you know me, like actual proper know me, you may remember that in high school, I saw Panic! at the Disco, and the Dresden Dolls opened, and I pulled a Sudoku out of my bag, which I completed while they played. To be fair, that was nine years ago, but apparently I am now an Amanda Palmer fan. Ukulele Anthem is song that sucked me in, but the other two are equally fantastic.

4-6: Kimya Dawson, more folksy music. I’ve been a Kimya fan for a long time, but I think it was seeing her play at the Evening of Awesome that made me remember that she had more than the 5 or 6 songs that I’ve been playing on repeat forever, so I decided to re-listen to her discography. These are my current favorites, subject to change.

7-8: Full Frontal Folk is a band that I have a bit of a personal connection to- they are Philadelphia Folksong Society people, and I am- well, was- when I was in the area. When I get in a folksy mood, they’re usually my go to, so I had to include them here, too. Mr. Right Now and The Beer Song are my favorite non-covers. They have some beautiful traditional song covers, as well.

9-10: nevershoutnever! is the link between the folksy and the poppy, I guess. He’s a bit of both, and his uke is charming. It’s hard to pick favorites here, so I kind of randomed these two. Love them both a TON.

11: WILD CARD! This is a traditional yiddish song that plays every week at swing dancing. I adore it. It’s my favorite song to swing to, and I can’t stop listening to it, either.

And then, my music cred gets flushed.

12-13: Taylor Swift. You can’t read this blog and not know I’m a huge freaking fan. I’ve been really into Stay Stay Stay lately because it’s happy and springy and just sort of fits how I’ve been feeling lately. Her monologue song is pretty old, but for some reason it popped into my head the other day, and there you go.

Finally, 14-15. One Direction. I have no excuse. *sigh* One Direction.

So that’s what I’m listening to this month! What are you listening to? Any recommendations for me?
