[Review] Skin and Bones; Sherry Shahan

Skin and Bones
Release Date: March 1 2014
Publisher: Albert Whitman Teen
Format: ARC from NetGalley.com

Summary from Goodreads:
Sherry Shahan's SKIN AND BONES, pitched as ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST meets LOVE STORY set in an eating disorder hospital in which an aspiring ballerina and a quirky nerdboy fall desperately in love only to become each other's next deadly addiction

What I Thought: First off: this book needs a SERIOUS trigger warning for eating disorders.

Besides that, I thought that this book was sort of just okay. I thought that it would be like It's Kind of a Funny Story, and I guess in a way it was, but there wasn't really much plot resolution in this story at all. It was an interesting character study, but the story didn't really go anywhere.

I also was a little disappointed by how much the "aspiring ballerina" was just a manic pixie dream girl that the "quirky nerdboy" decides to get better for- despite the fact that they aren't actually together and she doesn't really seem interested in giving him the time of day.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed.

Read this if: you're interested in a story with out much plot and don't mind a serious manic pixie dream girl.

Out of 5☆: 2/5

This book was 15/100 for 2014
